Abstract

1433875 Liquid fuel supply B L H BISHOP 7 Nov 1973 [18 Aug 1972] 38547/72 Heading F1B A recirculatory liquid supply system comprises a main liquid storage reservoir 2, a pump 6 to pump liquid from the reservoir 2 to a discharge means 19 (e.g. a fuel injector nozzle on an I.C. engine 7) via a supply duct 4, 5, which has a flowmeter 3 to measure the quantity of liquid pumped from the main storage reservoir to,the discharge means, a subsidiary storage reservoir 9 being connected to receive liquid returned from the discharge means via a return duct 8 and flow control means 23, 24 to control the flow of liquid from the subsidiary storage reservoir to the supply duct downstream of the flowmeter 3. The liquid level in reservoir 9 can be determined by dipstick, sightglass or by part or all of the reservoir being translucent or transparent, the increase in level being taken from the reading of the flowmeter to determine the net fuel supplied to the discharge means and used there. The float operated valve may be a rotary type.
