Abstract

1,016,295. Separating vapour from fuel lines. PLESSEY-UK Ltd. May 28, 1964 [June 21, 1963], No. 24736/63. Heading B1M, [Also in Division Fl] A vapour separator for connection with a main pump (not shown) in a booster pump unit for fuel tanks (see Division Fl), is in the form of an axial-flow pump 2 which discharges to the main pump. The pump 2 is combined with a turbine wheel 6 driven by liquid delivered from the main pump. The pump 2 has helical vapour-separator blades 5 which cause vapour to collect at their peripheral portions. A chamber 12 formed by an overhanging lip 13 receives the vapour and passes it, together with the turbine exhaust, through apertures 14 back to the fuel tank.
