Abstract

853,077. Injectors ; reciprocating pumps. SHELL RESEARCH Ltd. April 23, 1959 [July 9, 1958], No. 22032/58. Classes 71 and 102(1). An eductor comprises a swirl chamber 10, Fig. 2a having a pair of tangential inlets 13 for the driving liquid which draws liquid through openings 11, 12. The liquid flows through openings 14 to a collecting chamber 15 provided with an outlet, any vapours are separated centrifugally in the chamber 10 and pass out through the openings 11, 12. The eductor is of use in a pumping system for pumping liquified gases from a tank wherein a pump 1, Fig. 1 is mounted above the level of the liquid and has a suction conduit 4 leading from the outlet of the eductor 5, the driving liquid for the eductor being provided by a branch 7 leading from the outlet 6 of the pump.
