Abstract

574,140. Centrifugal pumps. PULSOMETER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and GIBBS, B. H. Oct. 26, 1943, No. 17662. [Class 110 (i)] A pumping system for liquids containing entrained gas comprises a rotor D, shaped as in Fig. 2, on vertical shaft C<1>, supplied with liquid from a surrounding tank, the pump being driven by an electric motor C. The liquid enters the rotor axially and released -gas escapes outwardly to a volute chamber E, passes downwards through a gap G and is guided back along the suction passage by a baffle F. The chamber E may have guide vanes, and leads to an outlet E<1>. The rotor, Fig. 2, has three spiral vanes D<2>. Instead of being conical D<1> the rotor boss may be flat or radiussed. The gap G may be formed by bevelled or curved parts.
