607,852. Centrifugal pumps. SELF-PRIMING PUMP & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., MEREDEW, G. C., and McKEAN, J. A. May 3, 1946, Nos. 13545 and 19297. [Class 110 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] A fuel pump motor unit arranged for fitting of the pump motor through an aperture in the side or end of an aircraft wing tank comprises a cover-plate 7 and an electric motor 6 and a fuel pump 2, 3 arranged to be submerged in the fuel with the motor 6 substantially vertically above the pump 2, 3 in alignment therewith and the pump arranged for bottom entry of the fuel. The screw propeller 2 assists the impeller 3 in the pumping action and also serves to separate off air or vapour from the fuel and discharge it into the annular space between the fixed baffle 4 and the pump casing and thence back into the tank.
