Abstract

725,017. Centrifugal pumps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. April 20, 1953 [April 30, 1952], No. 10742/53. Class 110 (1). A pump comprises a casing having inlet and discharge openings and longitudinally divided into two or more identical sections, and means for removably holding the sections in assembled relation around the impeller or impellers. In the submersible motor-driven pump shown, the impellers 4 are surrounded by two identical casing parts 14, 15 which carry the guide blades 8 and are held together as by screws 16. The motor casing comprises an annular shell 21 clamped between end flanges 24, 32 by means of bolts 47 which pass through alternate projections 28, 38 on the end flanges and engage tapped holes in alternate projections 42 formed on a member 39. The pump casing and motor casing are clamped together by bolts 53 which pass through an end flange 149 and the remaining projections 28, 38 and 42 and are screwed into an annular flange 31 of the pump casing. Flanges 31 and 149 abut against vanes 29 and 43 respectively. The liquid delivered by the pump passes by way of vanes 29, the annular space between an outer shell 55 and the shell 21, and vanes 43 to a duct 52. The motor cable 36 passes through a seal 46.
