981,305. Aircraft fuel supply systems. A. CIMINAGHI. Nov. 28, 1961 [Dec. 1, 1960], No. 42424/61. Heading B7W. Aircraft engines are supplied with fuel from a manifold 6 via conduit 7 and pumps, in a tank 3 supplied from main tanks 2 via conduit 4. An emergency tank 17 in tank 3 is filled via valve 18 from tank 3 and supplies fuel to the engines via pipe 20, manifold 6 and a valve, not shown, when it is necessary to drain the fuel from tanks 2 and 3 prior, for example, to a crash landing, a valve 21 closing manifold 6 from tank 3. Fuel is drained from tank 3 through a large valve 10, Fig. 5, and conduit 12 leading to the rear of the aircraft. One end fuel tank 2 has a filter opening and the other end tank 2 has an air bleeder valve. The tanks 2 are mounted in the wings and tank 3, at a lower level than tanks 2, is mounted in the fuselage.
