Abstract

554,905. Feeding sheets. ISLER, W. April 30, 1942, No. 5825. [Class 100 (i)] For feeding container blanks to machines for packing cigarettes &c. the blanks b are fed from the bottom of a vertical pile past retainers 14 by means of suction separators, preferably one for each corner of the blank, which are given first a vertical movement followed by a horizontal movement, suction being cut off when the separated blank is engaged by feed rollers 15. The suction cups are carried by cross-pieces 2, 2a mounted on a bar 1 forming part of a parallelogram of links 1, 3, 3a 4 acted upon by a spring 7 tending to move the bar 1 in a horizontal direction towards the rolls 15. The link 4 is also pivoted to parallel links 9, 9a, and a cam 11 on a shaft 13 acts as a roller 10 to move the links clockwise around fixed pivots 8, 8a to give the bar 1 a vertical downward movement so as to depress the suction devices. This is followed by the action of a cam 6 on a roller 5 carried by link 3a causing horizontal movement of the suction devices with a separated blank attached. The suction is finally cut-off by a rotary valve.
