Abstract

916,180. Feeding sheets. DERITEND ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. July 24, 1961 [Aug. 11, 1960], No. 27778/60. Class 100 (1). Apparatus for separating cardboard &c. blanks from a pile and feeding them to a machine comprises a reciprocating suction member b arranged beneath the pile, and a table a which supports the pile and is formed as a suction chamber a<SP>3</SP> with apertures a<SP>1</SP> towards the front of the pile, whereby the bottom blank is pulled down flat and on to the suction member b when suction is applied to the table. The suction separator b is reciprocated in a straight line by a link i which is rocked by a cam h<SP>1</SP> on a powerdriven shaft A. A suction pump b<SP>1</SP> connected to the separator b has the piston therein coupled by a connecting-rod j<SP>1</SP> to a crank on the shaft A, and blank-forwarding rollers d are also driven by a chain from the shaft A. The separator b fits within a recess in the table a, and the latter has apertures a<SP>1</SP> along the front edges thereof around the separator. The table a is connected to a suction pump a<SP>4</SP>, and the preferably continuous vacuum established therein is not high enough to prevent the separator removing the bottom blank. Each blank is delivered to the rollers d which feed it to a creasing, slotting, folding, &c. machine at f.
