Abstract

883,143. Cutting-out presses. MASCHINENFABRIK GOEBEL G.m.b.H. July 1, 1959 [July 1, 1958], No. 22616/59. Class 31 (1). [Also in Group XVI] Webs 5 of paper, cardboard or the like are fed between the tools 3, 4 of a cutting-out press 1, 2 by the combination of conveyer belts 6 and suction, the belts being perforated and having their upper runs movable over a perforated table comprising a suction box 7. The web 5 is clamped to the face of the box 7, so that it cannot be moved by the belts 6 just before a cutting-out operation, by oscillating fingers 25 which are operated in timed relationship with the machine. There are several belts 6 mounted in recesses in rollers 15, 16, and one roller is driven continuously and preferably uniformly. In a modification, the speed of the belts may be decreased just before the clamping fingers 25 descend, and increased to maximum speed after the cutting-out operation. The top of the suction box 7 has slots therein immediately below the belts 6 so that sheets are gripped to the belts; the exposed parts of the box top between the belts may have grooves or perforations therein which lead to atmosphere. A valve on the box 7 controls the degree of vacuum therein. After the cutting- out operation, the sheet &c. 5 is forwarded by a second set of conveyer belts 9 and a suction box 10 which are of the same construction as the belts 6 and box 7. Where the machine is for partially severing a web, the web is pulled through the machine by the conveyer belts and suction box arrangement behind the machine, and known conveyers may be arranged in front of the machine.
