Abstract

1,021,139. Feeding sheets. G. SPIESS. Oct. 28, 1964, No. 43887/64. Heading B6B. In a sheet feeding apparatus wherein sheets are fed over a feed board 1 into engagement with oscillating front stops 22, 23, the registered sheets are presented to sheet forwarders, such as rollers, by two suction nozzles 2, 3 which reciprocate in the direction of feed, and the application of suction to the nozzles, and the actuation of the stops are derived from a single drive means to ensure that the sheets are presented in timed sequence. A side lay 12 is also operated from the drive means. As shown, the faces 4 of the nozzles are co-planar with the board 1 and arranged in slots 5, 6, and the nozzles are below the board and connected to a rod 17 which is coupled by a lever 16 to a reciprocating shaft 14. The shaft 14 has a roller engaging an eccentric disc 10 on a shaft 8 coupled to a drive shaft 9. The lay 12 is reciprocated by an eccentric disc 11. A cam disc 18 rocks a shaft 20 which is connected by a rod 31 to the front stops 22, 23, and a further cam disc 19 rocks a shaft 21 to open and close a valve 24 in a pipe line 25 connected to the suckers 2, 3. The sheets are fed over the board 1 to the front stops by a belt conveyer. The drive shaft 8 is in a casing 7 secured to the frame 27.
