Abstract

1,003,046. Feeding sheets. SCHELLPRESSENFABRIK A.G., HEIDELBERG. Sept. 14, 1962 [April 30, 1962], No. 35072/62. Heading B6B. Sheets 6 are separated from a pile 1 by lifting suckers 3, forwarding suckers 4, and a combined presser-foot and air-blast nozzle 5, the leading edge of each sheet being aligned against stops 7 on rotating rings 9 which grip the aligned sheet by suction and feed it to grippers 10 on an endless chain 11 which carry the sheet over a table 13 to further front stops adjacent a printing or other machine. The sheets are separated and forwarded in overlapping relationship, and the preceding sheet is kept clear of the sheet being separated and aligned at the stops 7 by oscillating fingers 8 which act as guides and leave a wedge-shaped space above the sheet being aligned. The fingers 8 are secured on a shaft 14 which is oscillated from a cam 19 on a single-revolution shaft 20, and the fingers are moved over the pile, and then away from the pile to lift the preceding sheet. A further cam 25 also controls a valve 27 in a fixed vacuum chamber 28 arranged within the rotating rings 9, and apertures 18 are provided in the rings whereby the sheets aligned at the stops 7 are grasped and fed to the grippers 10.
