1,086,574. Feeding sheets. ROLAND OFFSETMASCHINENFABRIK FABER & SCHLEICHER A.G. Feb. 3, 1965 [Feb. 27, 1964], No. 4632/65. Heading B6B. In apparatus in which sheets are fed from a pile 1 in overlapping formation along a table 2 to a front stop 3, and a preliminary moving stop 7 with a cover-plate is provided to slow down the sheets before they reach the stop 3, there is associated with the stop 7 a nozzle 16 from which issues a stream of air having a suction effect on the front edge of an adjacent sheet to draw the edge under the cover-plate. The stop 7 and nozzle 16 are mounted on a carriage 8 reciprocated by mechanism 9 ... 12 along a guide 15 which is oscillated about a pivot 14 by a cam 13. The air issues from the nozzle 16 in one or more streams parallel to the plane of the sheets and in the direction of feed.
