Abstract

1,087,600. Sewing machines. INDUSTRIEWERKE KARLSRUHE A.G. Dec. 20, 1965 [Feb. 4, 1965], No. 53887/65. Heading D1G. A device for cutting thread-chain, in a sewing machine comprises fixed and movable blades and an air nozzle for deflecting the thread into a duct behind the blades. Blade 14 is fixed to the feed bar and is oscillated thereby and co-operates with fixed blade 12. The thread-chain is blown by the nozzle 3 into the duct 20 and at the edge of a workpiece 21, pulled over the top of the movable blade by the advancing workpiece, and severed. The severed chain passes into the duct. The thread chain at the trailing edge of each workpiece is blown across the blade and severed.
