Abstract

871,044. Feeding sheets. CONTINENTAL CAN CO. Inc. Aug. 1, 1958 [Aug. 9, 1957], No. 24907/58. Class 100(1) [Also in Groups XVII and XXX] In a machine for wrapping a group of articles, . such as cans, in a paperboard wrapper blank (see Group XVII) the blanks are fed from a hopper H in which they are supported by a flange 11and by fingers 12 which can be moved into and out of engagement with the lowermost blank of the stack. A bar 24 also supports the blanks and is adapted to move towards and away from the bottom blank. Vacuum cups 17 connected to a pump and supported by a pipe 18 carried by movable arms, 21 are adapted for movement towards and away from the stack. At a predetermined time the finger support 12 moves away from the stack leaving it resting on the bar 24 which then moves upwards. The vacuum goes on and the suction cups 17 pull and hold the edge 29 of the bottom blank downwards until the fingers 12 have regained contact with the stack. The bar 24 moves away from the stack and the blank is nipped between rollers 42, 43 and conveyed into the wrapping machine by chains 7. Specifications 854,300 and 871,045 are referred to.
