Abstract
1,258,800. Delivering sheets. S. & S. CORRUGATED PAPER MACHINER CO. Inc. 7 Oct., 1969 [27 Nov., 1968], No. 49158/69. Heading B8R. In a stacking mechanism, for box blanks, generally similar to that described in Specification 932,164, a barrier 15, which can be adjusted along the feed path toaccommodate different sizes of blanks, co-operates with a continuous belt conveyer 25 and lifting screws 12, (13) Fig. 2 (not shown), to form an underfed stack 14 the top portion 17 of which is removed periodically by a pusher arrangement 16. Rollers 51, 52 are mounted so that they are moved from an operative position as shown, in which they support an upper flight portion of the belt 25 when longer blanks are being handled, to an inoperative non- supporting position when shorter blanks are being stacked, this movement being automatically effected in unisonwithadjustment of the barrier 15. Further rollers (48); Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), support the conveyer 25 in the region of the barrier, whilst oscillating rollers 92 (Fig. 4, not shown) engage the lowermost blank in the stack 14 and facilitate the entry of blanks into the stack, the rollers (48) and 92 being movable with the barrier 15. A hold-down slat 75, supported by a parallel arm linkage 80, 81, rests on top of the stack 14 and exerts a downward force to maintain pressure between adjacent blanks, and an oscillatory slapper bar 60 straightens the blanks as they rise in the stack.
