743,639. Feeding. WILLSEA, J. Dec. 29, 1953, No. 36083/53. Class 117. [Also in Group XVI] A rotary printing machine (see Group XVI) has means for feeding cardboard carton blanks from the bottom of a stack and feeding them between printing cylinders. Spaced horizontal members 28 attached to cross members 24 form the feed table 27. Sprockets at each end of one printing cylinder mesh with cylinder-driving chains 60 which also pass round idler sprockets at the other end of the feed table 27 and driving sprockets below the printing cylinder. The two chains 60 are connected by transverse feeding strips 76 moved thereby over the feed table 27. The front of each strip 76 is chamfered at 78 as shown so as to push the lowest blank out of the stack and feed it to the printing cylinders. The stack 14 is located by guides 120 adjustably supported on cross members 124, 126 so that a gap 132 is provided below their bottom ends allowing the lowermost blank to pass through but retaining the one above it. The strips 76 are spaced apart a distance equal to the circumference of the printing cylinders and travel at the same speed.
