Abstract

554,355. Coating with metals. VANDERVELL PRODUCTS, Ltd., and GREEN, D. F. March 24, 1942, No. 3893. [Class 82 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XXXIV] " Fretting " between adjoining metal surfaces, such as a connecting-rod and its steel bearing sleeve, is prevented by facing one or both of them with a copper-tin facing metal preferably deposited electrolytically as a copper-tin alloy the tin content of which may range between 0.25 and 75 per cent. a maximum of 15 per cent. being found satisfactory in practice. The alloy may be deposited from an alkaline bath containing copper cyanide and sodium stannate using either an anode of the alloy or separate anodes of copper and tin.
