Abstract

553,743. Building construction. WINSTANLEY, W. H. Nov. 1, 1941, No. 14081. [Classes 20 (i), 20 (iii) and 20 (iv)] Precast reinforced concrete bars 1, laid on a birch or'concrete foundation 2, are provided with dovetail sockets to receive dovetail ends integral with upright bars 8 at right-angles. The uprights 8 support horizontal bars 9 having sockets 10 to receive further vertical bars, or the dovetail ends of an inclined roof truss element. Where two adjacent roof spans are to be supported, the bar 9 may be doubled in width 14, Fig. 5, and is similar to the bar 1 with a central longitudinal rain water channel 115. The bars 8 may be provided with a channel 15, Fig. 6, to receive a panel 22 which is secured by wedges, cement grouting, or putty, or two sets of channels 15 may be provided, so that the panels form a cavity wall, or if of glass, a heat insulated transparent panel.
