Abstract
553,400 Overhead conductors for electric traction. BRITISH INSULATED CABLES, Ltd.. LONDON PASSENGER TRANSPORT BOARD, BROOM, T. C., and WILKINSON, T. March 21, 1942, No. 3769. [Class 104 (iii)] A cross-over for'the overhead conductors in electric traction systems comprises a plate 5 carrying four fixed tongues 1 .. 4, the tongues 2 and 4 being normally connected by two movable switches 9, 10 for running in either direction, while the third switch 8 is at an angle to the tongues 1, 3 and permits turning in the direction 1 to 3 by movement of 8 and 10 into alignment with 1 and 3, while 9 is moved to a position at an angle to 2 and 4. The switch 8 pivots on an axis on the axis of 1 and 3, switch 9 pivots on an axis on the axis of 2 and 4. and switch 10 on an axis at the intersection of the two lines. The three switches are connected to move together by cranks and links 17 .. 21, and are normally held in Fig. 1 position by a spring 24. The switch 8 may be operated by the collector on the route 1, 3, by an electromagnet, or by hand.
