Abstract

215,397. Clark, W. Nov. 3, 1924. Switch bases: lighting systems; couplings.-In, order to provide for dual or distant control of a lamp in an existing system, in which the lamp iscontrolled by an ordinary tumbler switch, the ordinary screw-held cover is replaced by one carrying insulated' contacts which engage with the fixed switch contacts and are connected to the auxiliary or distant-control switch. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 2 and 3 providing an auxiliary control point, the tumbler switch cover has a pair of insulated spring contacts g which abut against the fixed contacts i and are connected through leads to the auxiliary switch. With this arrangement the lamp can be put on or off from either switch provided the other switch is in the off position. To obtain full control without this limitation, a two-way tumbler switch is employed and a cover with three abutting contacts is used therewith, the contacts being connected to an auxiliary threeway switch at a distant point.
