Abstract
525,592. Tumbler switches; arc-rupturing in switches. SCHOLES & CO., Ltd., G. H., SCHOLES, G. H., and PEARCE, F. J. Feb. 24, 1939, No. 6130. [Class 38 (v)] A tumbler switch forming part of a combined switch and socket coupling, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown), comprises a contact strip 20 urged against fixed contacts 14, 15, by one or a pair of springs 21, 21a When the dolly 22a is rotated to the position shown, two short breaks are produced by. the engagement of the nose 22b with the contact 20 about midway between the springs, further movement causing the end 20b to increase its gap for isolation purposes, whereas the gap at 20a diminishes. In the fully-open position, the nose is over or beyond the spring 21a and the end 20a is reclosed. Where a single spring only is employed, the initial engagement of 22b is immediately over the spring. Specifications 499,043 and 514,202 are referred to.
