Abstract

747,925. Contact-members for switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and LONDON, C. A. Nov. 29, 1954 [Dec. 17, 1953], No. 35179/53. Class 38(5) A knuckling contact 5 is resiliently mounted on the main arm 1 of a contactor or other switch by means of a polygonal shaft 8, fixed to the arm 1 and passing through a polygonal hole in a hollow boss 6 fixed to the arm 5, circular rubber rods 9 being arranged in the corners as shown. The rods 9 are shown in a position of maximum distortion and bias, the arm 5 in a closwise direction. When the shaft 2 carrying the arm 1 is rotated counter-clockwise to open the switch a projection 7 moves to engage a stop 4 on the arm 1. The stop 4 consists of a tube connecting the two sideplates of the arm 1. The Provisional Specification also describes a modification with a hollow sheath of rubber between the shaft and the bore. Specification 652,266 [Group XXXII] is referred to.
