Abstract

1,183,525. Fusible cut-outs. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. 20 Feb., 1968 [20 Feb., 1967], No. 7970/67. Heading H2G. [Also in Division H1] An insulated fuse housing 1 has at least one pair of parallel fixed resilient contacts 17; a pair of wedges associated with each contact 17, one wedge 22 being fixed relative to the housing and the other wedge 21 being movable parallel to the contacts 17, both movable wedges being coupled for simultaneous movement to urge contacts 17 towards each other (to grip contacts on the pivoted fuse carrier 2). The wedges are moved by screws 24 operated through gearing 26, 27 by spindle 34. Normally there are two pairs of resilient contacts 17, operated by separate drive spindles, which engage blade contacts 6 at either end of fuse 5 mounted in the pivotably mounted insulated fuse carrier 2, operated by insulated handle 4. An arc-shoot 12 is mounted near the contacts remote from the pivot. External electrical connections arc made to one contact through stud 28 connected to bus-bar 18 and to the other via plate 19. The fuse housing may be mounted by means of lugs on either side of the body. Specification 1,183,526 is referred to.
