Abstract
563,458. Frogs for overhead electric conductors. BRITISH INSULATED CABLES, Ltd., LONDON PASSENGER TRANSPORT BOARD. BROOM, T. C., and POWELL, H. J. April 29, 1943, No. 6804. [Class 104 (iii)] In an overhead double tongue spring-back trail frog, such as described in Specification 546,314, means are provided, actuated by the approaching collector, for automatically changing the direction of the force exerted by the spring 38 on the movable tongues 13, 14, so that the spring may hold either tongue in the open position. The actuating means may comprise a roller 28 located between the approach conductors 11, 12, and adapted to be moved transversely by the passing collector on 12 to reverse the spring toggle mechanism 32, 34, 35, 38 for reversing the positions of 13, 14. The collector then trails through the tongue 14 in the open position, so that the tongue 13 in the closed position permits reverse travel of the collector from the conductor 7 to the conductor 11.
