Abstract

553,273. Hydraulic control mechanism; fluidpressure brakes. CLAYTON DEWANDRE CO., Ltd., and EDGE, S. H. Oct. 20, 1941, No. 13475. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A single-acting hydraulic motor q, Fig. 1, which may operate a brake, or a sliding-valve rotary motor s, Fig. 3, is actuated by a gear pump b which in the inactive position circulates liquid through a by-pass valve l to a pipe d leading back to the reservoir a. To build up pressure in the motor the by-pass valve l is throttled or closed by depressing a piston k, to which the valve l is attached, by means of a lever h acting through a piston f and a spring j, or two or more springs brought into action successively. The pressure applied to the hydraulic motor is thus proportional to the effort applied to the lever h. The pressure fluid at all times can act upon the piston k.
