Abstract
531,129. Controlling clutches. HARDY, W. G., and TARLTON, F. H. July 12, 1939, No. 20331. [Class 80 (ii)] A fluid pressure clutch-actuating mechanism comprises a pump E' circulating oil &c. through a valve casing E. When the clutch pedal A is depressed a piston D throttles the outlet through a pipe E' and a piston D' is put under pressure to move a rod B<1> connected to a clutch operating lever B. When the pressure fails the piston D abuts a cylinder end F<1> in the casing E and the rod B<1> is moved by foot pressure. A spring A<1> restores the pedal and the piston D and abutments G contact to restore the piston D<1>. In a modification coaxial pistons are used.
