Abstract

551,968. Transformers. MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Jan. 14, 1942, No; 562., Convention date, Jan. 18,1941. [Class 38 (ii)] Transformer and like windings are protected against surge voltage by an arrangement comprising a series of partially tetescoped shields 4, 5, 6. extending along the inside and/or the outside of the winding 1, the end shields being connected to the corresponding ends of the winding. The shields are embedded in an insulating cylinder and are designed so that the capacities between adjacent shields are equal to each other and greater than the capacity to earth of the shield assembly when disconnected from the winding.
