551,875. Valves. BARR, THOMSON & CO., Ltd., and REID, J. L. June 18, 1942, No. 8361. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXII] A valve of the type shown has a pressed body 1 of general open ended cylindrical shape, with an integral flange 2 for the cover 3 and with an opening 4 into which is secured the seat 5 and into which may also be secured a flanged branch 9 welded at 10 to the body. The lateral branch 6 is welded on at 7. The pressed cover forms a stuffing box 11 for the hollow nut 15 of the spindle, attached to the valve 16, and guided by ribs 17 on brackets 14, welded to the cover, and carrying a crosshead 13 in which the spindle 12 is journaled. In a modification, the branch 9 is part of the body pressing and is of reduced diameter. Specifications 437,478 and 489,602, [both in Group XXII], are referred to.
