Abstract

430,321. Reflectors. VEREINIGTE DEUTSCHE METALLWERKE AKT.-GES. ZWEIGNIEDERLASSUNG HEDDERNHEIMER KUPFERWERK, Heddernheim, Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Sept. 12, 1933, Nos. 25268 and 25269. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, March 13, 1934]. [Class 97 (i)] [See also Group XXII] Large concave or convex reflectors &c. for kinematographs &c. are made by applying fluid pressure to one side of a disc a to cause it to bulge to spherical form. The flat disc a is clamped to the periphery of the chamber d by a clamping ring c, a packing ring f making a tight joint. A ring b may be soldered to the disc to prevent buckling. Various forms of clamping are shown, e.g. Figs. 4 and 6. The disc may have a groove k, Fig. 7, formed near the periphery where the bulge is to begin. To minimize local bulging a spherical backing piece h may be secured where required. The bulging may be carried out in several stages a<1>, a<2> &c. with intermediate annealing.
