Abstract

594,046. Making valves. BARR, THOMSON, & CO., Ltd., and REID, J. L. June 23, 1945, No. 16095. [Class 83 (ii)] In a sluice valve of the kind having a main hollow component 1 with an external mouth flange 2 and with lateral apertures in which are welded a pair of flanged branch pipes 3, 4, protruding into the interior and carrying screwthreaded valve seat members 7 the flanges 10, 11 are welded to the outer ends of the branches, upper and lower external webs 12, 13 are interposed between and welded to the main component 1 and also to the branches and flanges, internal webs 14 coplanar with webs 12 are welded to the component 1 and also to the branches and transverse webs 15 are welded to the component 1 and also to .the branches and flanges. The webs 12, 13 are located in a plane containing the axis of the spindle 9. The webs 12 are also welded to the external mouth flange 2 of the component 1. The Provisional Specification refers to Specification 552,974.
