Abstract
606,658. Welded pipe-joints. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. Jan. 23, 1945, No. 1824. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1943. [Class 99 (i)] A universal pipe fitting for connection by welding between pipe ends of the same or different diameters has a number of branches, Figs. 2 and 4, each comprising an extension nipple of tapering form adapted to be cut off at a point appropriate to the diameter of the pipe to be welded. Grooves a of round or other shape may be provided to indicate cut-off points corresponding to various standard pipe diameters. In one form the extensions may be stepped as at b, Fig. 6. The wall thickness may be either constant or decreasing towards the ends of the extensions. For welding a pipe of non-standard diameter to the fitting, the extension may be cut-off between adjoining grooves. In some cases the grooves may be dispensed with. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a modification on which a single branch member, Fig. 2 (Cancelled), is used. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
