[Class 99 (i)] The flared end of a lead &c. pipe 3 is coupled to a second pipe &c. 4 by compressing it between a conical connecting member 1, which screws &c. onto the pipe 4 and is provided with one or more annular ribs and/or grooves 8, and an inner conical ferrule 2, which may be integral with the pipe 4 and has an annular projecting portion 5.
