Abstract
552,974. Valves. BARR, THOMSON & CO., Ltd., and REID, J. L. June 18, 1942, No. 8359. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXII] Sluice valves are made from a pressing into openings of which are welded at 11 branches 3, flanged at 10 and thickened at 3a then they pass into the body 1. The ends of the branches receive screwed in nuts 6 for the taper valve 7 which may be guided by strips welded on to the body which is completed by a flange 2 welded on at 12 for the purpose of attaching the cover 9 containing the actuating spindle 8. The branches 3 may be forgings and the cover 9 a pressing or a forging. In a modification the body is in two parts welded together in a central plain at right-angles to the flanged sections of 3 and 1. According to the Provisional Specification, the side walls of the body may be locally flattened inwardly in the region of the branches.
