Abstract

Cup-leather sleeve joints.-Pipe-joints and the joints of two-part containers of the kind in which a liquid-tight joint is made by means of a flexible ring held by fluid pressure, the pipe or container sections being held together by a metal band, have this metal band D and the flexible ring A so arranged that even without fluid pressure the sides of the ring are forced outwards by the pressure of the metal band so as to bear against the pipe or container sections. This may be effected by shaping the top of the ring into a hump so that it bears against the band or by making the band with a ridge which presses on the ring, or by shaping both these members.
