[Class 60] [Also in Group XXXVI] A rotary-barrel machine for cleaning, polishing and like operations comprises a stand consisting of uprights a and cross-bars b, a transverse member c mounted on trunnions d and carrying a cylindrical member e in which is supported on bearings f a spindle g carrying a gear wheel h secured to the underface of the barrel i. The left-hand portion of the member d is formed as a housing l for an electric motor j which drives through reduction gearing a pinion k. in mesh with the gear wheel. The barrel supporting means e, f may be tilted by a worm and worm-wheel or other, preferably irreversible, mechanism which is operative in one of the trunnions d and contained in a housing m for actuation by a handle n.
