561,015. Washing machine. ACME WRINGERS, Ltd., TENNANT, J., and ROSS, D. C. (executors of Burt, J. W.). July 20, 1942, No. 10107. [Class 138 (ii)] A manually operable washing machine having an under-drive for the usual oscillatory agitator has the spindle of the agitator projecting through the bottom of the tank and fitted with a gear wheel 8 driven through spur gears 7, 6 gearing with a sliding rack 10 reciprocated by a pinion 5 rolled along a fixed rack 9 by means of a hand-lever 4 pivoted at 16 and passing through a ball in a socket 14 carried by a slide 13. Instead of the ball-and-socket arrangement the slide carrying the pinion 5 may be connected to the lever 4 by a link pivoted to the lever and the slide.
