Abstract

549,836. Collapsable perambulators. KEIGHTLEY, H. S. July 21, 1941. Nos. 9222/41 and 9937/42. [Class 108 (i)] A collapsable perambulator shown in Figs. 1 and 2 comprises a fabric bag 1 suspended by turn buckles 14 from two pairs of wheel-carrying members 2, 3 pivoted at 4, the pairs being maintained in position for carrying a child by meansof handlecarrying rear members 9, 10 which are braced together by plates 13, and the members 2, 3 being held apart by a pivoted arm 18; the wheel 6 on members 2 serves for wheeling the perambulator after folding the members 2, 3 together and wrapping the bag 1 round them umbrellawise as shown in Fig. 4. A construction for receiving a child in the prone position shown in Fig. 5 comprises a bag 1 carried on a frame-work consisting of two leg members24 pivotally connected by an axle 25 for the front wheel 6, two leg members 26 each carrying a rear wheel 8, and longitudinal frame members 27 pivoted at 28 to the leg members 26, guide plates 29 being used to clamp legs 24 and 26. The frame members 27 are connected together at the front by a swivel pin and the rear ends bent round to be pivoted at 34 to the legs 24. Handles 35 are pivoted at 36 and secured by slides 37. An alternative means for bracing the rear wheels comprises pivoted arms with a turnbuckle passed through a slot for locking the parts.
