Abstract
549,125. Valve relay circuits. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 14, 1941, No. 8909. Convention date, July 13, 1940. [Class 40 (v)] In a thermionic relay circuit in which a utilization device is connected between the cathode and the secondary emission electrode of a valve, the secondary emission current is caused to change rapidly by changing the operating conditions so as to bring the valve into or out of the range of stable operation: In Fig. 5 the utilization device 44 is connected in series with a resistance 40 between the cathode 31 andthe secondary emission electrode 34. A battery 43 and switch 44 are provided for starting the arrangement. Then a change in potential provided by a device 46 in the control grid circuit causes the tube to pass out of the range of stable operation and the current through resistance 40' and device 41 abruptly ceases: The devicemay be connected in parallel with resistance 40 and the change in current may be brought about by a change in anode potential. In a further modification, the change is. produced by altering the value of resistance 40 by means of a tap moved by a servomotor (Fig. 7, not shown). Specification 526,848 is referred to.
