Abstract
487,466. Valve relay circuits. GUNSTONE, A. C., and NEMET, A. Aug. 13, 1937, No. 22290. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXV] The duration of an electrical process such as the energization of X-ray tube circuits is determined by the charging or discharging time of a resistance-condenser network CR associated with the grid circuit of an auxiliary valve AV, the striking or energisation of which completes a circuit whereby a high negative bias is applied to the grids of the main gas-discharge gridcontrolled valves MV to extinguish them and operate a contactor by means of the contactor relay winding b. Switches S1, S2 are opened to commence the operation of the device ; the prohibitive bias on AV due to condenser C leaks away across resistance R until AV strikes ; the grids of valves MV are then virtually connected to the cathode potential of AV thus imposing a very high negative bias on MV to cut off the anode current.
