[Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XVIII] Mechanism for feeding granular or like material to the weigh pan or pans of an automatic weighing or like machine comprises a supply hopper having an outlet at its lower end, a pivoted or slidable shoot situated in an inclined position beneath the outlet, a rotary serrated roller engaging an abutment on the shoot for vibrating the same, and a shutter at the delivery end of the shoot adapted when moved to closed position not only to interrupt the delivery of material from the shoot but also to move the shoot into a position in which the abutment is clear of the serrated rollers. As applied to an automatic weighing machine wherein the main quantity of material is weighed in a weigh pan d and is then transferred to a second weigh pan c wherein the weight is completed, the material passes from a supply hopper e to an inclined pivoted shoot i vibrated by a serrated wheel o engaging a roller n on the shoot. When the requisite weight has entered the pan d the movement of the beam 6 causes a link mechanism q and arcurate shutter p pivoted on the fixed frame to close the outlet j of the vibrating shoot. The shutter in closing also lifts the shoot and rocks it clear of the serrated wheel o thereby arresting the vibration. The auxiliary feed to the second pan c after the transfer from the pan d is effected by a slidable shoot t vibrated longitudinally by a serrated wheel y and supplied from the nozzle s of a second supply hopper f. When the change is completed an arcuate shutter 2 cuts off the feed and in doing so displaces the vibrating shoot from contact with its serrated wheel to arrest the flow of material.
