Abstract

810,163. Automatic feed weighers. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIEGES Jan. 24, 1957. [Jan. 27, 1956], No. 2662/57. Class 143 In an automatic feed weigher, material is fed to a container 19 by a screw 1, and cut off is effected by simultaneously de-energizing the screw driving motor 2, and pivoting together a pair of jaws 5, 6. These jaws are mounted on shafts 7, 8 which are provided with intermeshing gears 9, 10 and are retained in the position shown, against the action of springs 11, 11<1>, by a pawl 12 engaging a projection 13 on wheel 10. On attainment of a predetermined weight of material in container 19 an electromagnet 16 is energized, so disengaging pawl 12 from projection 13, and, through a control mechanism 20, motor 2 is de-enerigzed. The feed is restarted by movement of a lever 8<1> either manually or by mechanism associated with an automatic packaging machine (not shown). In a modification (Fig. 3 not shown) the jaws 5, 6 are retained in their open position by an electromagnet which releases the jaws when it is de-energized.
