A weighing machine for automatically weighing given quantities of bulk goods comprises a weighing mechanism with a receptacle to which the material can be fed, a leader or a fixed stop with which the balance co-operates and comprising means controlled by the weighing mechanism such as a valve for interrupting the flow of material characterized in that the mass which has to be added to the receptacle to bring the balance of the weighing machine from the position in which it operates the interrupting means divided by the period of the balance is greater than six tenths of the filling rate and preferably close to nine tenths of the filling rate and that an adjustable damping member is provided.
