Abstract

877,142. Packaging machines. HESSER, MASCHINENFABRIK-A.G., Fr. Feb. 15, 1960 [March 10, 1959], No. 5308/60. Class 94(1). [Also in Group XXX] Material falling down pipe 8 is distributed to discharge screws 2 by the rotation of distributing plate 6, the plate carrying the screws (and also hopper 5) as it rotates so that the screws may be operated to fill containers P as the latter are carried along by a conveyer. The screws are rotated independently of the distributing plate by means of motor 10 via gearing 11, 12, 13. Volume of material, dispensed. The rotation of each screw is governed by electro-magnetic clutch 14 controlled by contacts 15, 151 of a relay. The volume is predetermined by the height of cam 24 set by handle 50, the height of cam 24 setting the height of contact 15 and, through arm 22, the position of pin 23 fixed on disc 18. Disc 18 is freely revoluble on its axis but is connected via freewheel rollers 19 with wormwheel 17 driven from screw 2 by worm 16, and is influenced by spring 20. As the screw rotates, contact 15 drops till it engages contact 151 to operate clutch 14 to disconnect the screw 2 when the predetermined quantity of material has been discharged. The contact 15 is then reset at a moment later by cam 24.
