907,049. Weighing apparatus. HESSER, MASCHINENFABRIK-A.G., Fr. Sept. 12, 1960 [Oct. 7, 1959], No. 31343/60. Class 143. A dispensing machine which operates on the volumetric principle and has measuring chambers which are adapted to be adjusted automatically by a control measuring device in accordance with the varying poured weight of fluent material passing into the machine is characterized by the fact that the control measuring device, which comprises an adjustable control measuring chamber 16 and an associated control-signal-emitting weigher 17, is arranged directly at the periphery of and in parallel with the distributer plate 2 which supplies the measuring chambers 1 and is provided with a conveyer device which takes fluent material from the distributer plate and fills it into the control measuring chamber. Fluent material is fed on to the distributer plate 2 through a pipe 3 and is swept into the measuring chambers 1 by wiper blades 7, 8. The control measuring chamber 16 is the same size as a measuring chamber 1 and the conveyer device which fills it comprises wiper blades 5. After each revolution of the wiper blades 5 the chamber 16 is discharged by the opening of a bottom flap 20, ingress thereto of further material being stopped by a rotating cover-plate 19. The discharged material falls into the weighing holder 18 of the weigher 17. If the material thus measured out has an underweight or an overweight a corresponding positive or negative electrical impulse is passed to control mechanism 26 from a differential transformer 25, of known type, connected to the weigher. The mechanism 26 controls a motor 34 which drives a screwthreaded spindle 37 whereby, for each right-hand or left-hand rotation of the motor 34, the distributer plate 2 and cover 31 are respectively raised or lowered, the volume of the measuring chambers 1, which are telescopic, thus being increased or decreased. The volume of the chamber 16 is varied simultaneously. The control mechanism 26 may be adapted, either to use each control weighing to correct the dispensed volume of material, or to add up the electrical impulses and initiate an adjustment after a certain sum, so correcting any tendency to over- or under-weight. Material that has passed through the weighing device and excess material taken from the distributer plate 2 by the wiper blades 5 is returned to the distributer plate by a conveyer 28. Regulation of the quantity conveyed by the wiper blades 5, which may be observed in a mirror 30, can be achieved by rocking a guide-plate 32. There may be more than one chamber 16.
