Abstract

547,562. Abrasive compositions. CARBORUNDUM CO. Jan. 27, 1941, No. 1048. Convention date, March 28, 1940. Drawings to Specification. [Class 70] [Also in Groups XI and XXIII] Heat-production in a high frequency alternating-current field is used for securing abrasive granular material in a heat-maturable bond, the electrostatic or electromagnetic field being of a frequency of the order of ten to fifty megacycles. The internal heating may be increased by the mixture of conductive particles with the bonding material. The abrasives may be used for grinding wheels, sticks, rubs, dental points, sandpaper. The bonding materials may consist of synthetic resins, of rubber vulcanized in the process of setting, or may be ceramic.
