[Class 70] [Also in Group IV] An abrasive article such as a tool or grindstone consists of a mixture, compressed and agglomerated with a binding substance, of an abrasive powder and chips of a soft metal in which the abrasive grains are embedded due to the compression. The abrasive may be diamond, emery, corundum, silicon carbide, or a mixture, the metal may be an aluminium alloy, copper, or bronze, and the binder may be liquid and/or powdered synthetic resin, shellac, rubber, clay, kaolin, or glass. Fibres such as asbestos or cotton may be added. The abrasive composition may be moulded upon cores of metal or plastic material, or mounted on a backing by cementing or screwing.
