Abstract
A powder adapted for use on a razor strop consists of a mixture of about 97.5 parts of silica derived from quartz, about 0.8 parts of iron oxide, and about 1.5 parts of talc. Natural quartzite containing traces of iron oxide and alumina may be used mixed with talc. The materials are ground until they pass a sieve of 200 meshes to the inch. Reference is made to the prior use of Dinas silica stone containing about 98 per cent of silica, 1 per cent of alumina, and 0.5 per cent each of iron oxide and lime.
