Abstract

An abrading or polishing tool consists of a rotary body carrying flexible grinding elements composed of sheets or threads formed from a rubber or other elastic binding material containing uniformly distributed abrasive particles such as silicon carbide, corundum, emery, or glass. The grinding elements may be made porous by incorporating in the binding material gas-evolving substances such as ammonium carbonate, hydrogen peroxide &c.
