Abstract

1328292 Abrasive tools T H N BROGDEN 22 March 1972 [8 April 1971] 9149/71 Heading B3D An abrasive device comprises a block or pad of resiliently deformable material formed from fragments of cellular material bonded together, and abrasive particles secured to one or more faces of the block by means of a flexible adhesive. The block may be rectangular, triangular or circular and shaped for manual handling, and consist of chips of cellular polyether or polyester material bonded together by flexible solid material. The abrasive, such as ground glass, garnet, aluminium oxide or carborundum, is secured to one or more sides of the block by a synthetic rubber based adhesive, different grades being secured to different faces. The block may be in the form of a sheet for attachment to a rotary or orbital sanding device.
